I was fishing a winter league match about 10 years ago and I had 147lb and won the match at a place called Tollerton ponds fishing just using my top 2 in about 6ft of water the fish was shoaled up either getting out of the wind or just in slightly deeper water. The 2nd place had something like 35lb. This was in freezing cold temps in January. I still remember it to this day, the fish was not moving and all I had to do was get it right in front of there noses and they would eat it. I could of had a lot more but I had to keep going for a walk to stay warm all the other anglers was cursing me and coming to watch and stand behind my peg lol.
Can have some good days in winter but also some sh## days too. I fished a winter league match on year and I was all wrapped up and trying to stay warm and just focusing on the lake infront of me and not really noticed how much it snowed and after the match we had to dig our cars out of the carpark because it had snowed about a foot deep but obviously the snow wasnt settling on the water so I didnt realise how bad it had got
